Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money on the internet. There are many simple affiliate marketing strategies you can learn. In affiliate marketing, you would build a website with advertisement links to affiliate products.

These affiliates then pay you a commission when someone comes to their site through your link and buys one of their products. The way I view affiliate marketing is I am connecting people with solutions to their problems.

I have seen many different ways to run this type of business. Although some may work, I personally see them as ethically wrong. The only good thing about the way they run is they are fast to build, 1 or 2 page mini sites. Loaded with adds to affiliates. To me they remind me of a used car salesman. They make me want to run away as fast as I can.

Direct Linking

Another simple affiliate marketing strategy is called direct linking or redirecting. You do this through PPC, or pay-per-click marketing. With direct linking you just create an add, and put the affiliate link. The advantage to this type of linking is that you can do it without owning your own website. The problem is you have to compete with everyone else doing direct linking to that site. Google and yahoo will only put 1 link to the same url on a page. If others are direct linking for the same keywords, you will be in a war to outbid them.

Redirecting

This is where the other style, redirects comes in. In this method, you set up a website that the user never sees. You just set up a page with a redirect to the affiliate sales page and you get your direct link without building your own website. The problem with these two strategies is they do not convert well over the long term. Google really does not like this type of linking and will give you a lower quality score. This will cause you to pay more for your advertising.

Content Sites

My favorite simple affiliate marketing strategy is an content rich site. In short, you build a site with app. 30+ articles and reviews of products focuses on building a relationship with customers to bring repeat sales. The biggest downside to content rich sites is they are a long-term commitment to build. Building these sites can be fun if you are knowledgeable in your niche. You can use your personal knowledge to enrich your site.

No Matter Which simple affiliate marketing strategy you choose, you should always start with your niche. Find products with an affiliate program that you want to promote then start researching that niche. You will need to find a variety of keywords that people search for within your niche. These keywords are the basis for the topics of your articles.

You should not worry too much about competition at this point. While it is true some niches are very competitive for good keywords, It is better to get started and get content up on your site. You can always go back and reword your articles later to target different keywords. This will actually help with rankings in search engines, because it shows changes to your site. Updates and changes will help your site continue to improve in rankings.
