Protect Your Blog From Scrapers

by James Pruitt on 09/08/2010

My friend Dianne from Blogger Mindset just shared this cool new tool to protect blog content. If you try to right click, you will notice that a pop up warning comes up now. You can’t select or copy the blog articles anymore.

I know a lot of people have been worried about people stealing your content.  You can use the plugin uploader inside your wordpress dashboard it install the Blog protector plugin on your wordpress sites.

I am not sure how well this will help with the scraper bots, but supposedly, it should prevent them from ripping you off too.

Riffing off of a good post, and using it to state your own ideas on the subject is one thing, but stealing someone elses content and claiming it as your own needs to be stopped.

Content Being Stolen? Disable Right Click

Has your blog’s content been stolen recently? Is somebody stealing every post from your blog? Now, for the wordpress users I have got a plugin by which you can simply disable right click on your blog.

Hey James

Great info, especially like the right click disable trick, but as a person who likes to browse through my favorite blogs and right click to open interesting links in new tabs I find it really frustrating to have to keep hitting the back page to get to the original post.

Is there anyway around this?

Hey Chris welcome to my new blog LOL. I am still moving things, so I haven’t gotten it all worked out yet.

The plugin completely disables right click function. YOu can always set your links to open in a new window, so that people won’t have a problem with the clicks.
