Marketing on the Web: Common Mistakes to Avoid

f you are marketing on the web for your business, there are many mistakes you need to avoid to be successful. You need to make sure you build your marketing strategy in a way that provides a valuable experience to your users. Here are some things you need to make  sure u follow in order to market on the web effectively.

Write Quality Content

This sounds obvious, but a lot of people still don’t do it. If you want to build strong trust with people, you have to give good, high quality content. When you write, be informative. Marketing on the web is all about quality not quantity.  Make sure the people who read your articles can benefit from what  you are writing. Take time to research your information.  I am amazed when I see how much misinformation people have written and expect someone to buy something form them.

Be Honest

Marketing on the web still requires honesty with your customers. People can tell if they are being scammed. The only way any business will survive is if you have repeat customers. If you lie to your customers, they will not return to give you repeat sales. The other problem with this is that they are more likely to tell people about a bad experience than a good one. Research shows that on average people will tell one to three people about a good experience they had. If they have an really great experience they will tell 3 to six people. However, the same people say that on average they would tell ten to fifteen people about a bad experience.

This shows if you lie to your customers, and provide a bad experience, you will lose a lot more business in the long run than you will gain. How many of those ten to fifteen people are your potential customer?

Pay Attention to Appearance

Look at the overall apearance of your website. Stay away from flashy graphics, or wild color schemes. Testing has proven that high quality content will do more for your business than any fancy look you put on your website. Keep it clean and free of clutter.

People prefer to read black text on a white or very light colored background. Do not try to juice up your site by making your pages colorful. when all else fails remember to KISS it. Keep It Short and Simple. Marketing on the web is about building trust and relationships, not showing off.

Use Proper Seo

There are a lot of people who say that on page SEO does not matter for marketing on the web. This could not be farther from the truth. True it does not do much to help your site rankings. However, a good meta description and title are what the SERPS use in your display. If you do not have a good display when people find your listing, they will pass you up for one that is more compelling to what they want.

Make sure your title and description are compelling enough for people to want to find out more. If you take the time to do this well, you will get a higher clickthrough rate when you do get your site ranking in the SERPS.

Capture Visitors Information

There are still a lot of people marketing on the web who do not get an email adress, or try to get any way to contact the customer again. This is one of the biggest mistakes you can make online. You can go to Aweber and set up an email auto responder easily. You will want to contact the people who come to your site so that you can continue to send them offers and promotions later.

Running a good email campaign is easy to do. Once you capture an email, you can send out a weekly newsletter, and promote products or services that you find to be useful to them. Make sure you give good quality emails. do not just promote products, or you will find that you get more people unsubscribing than subscribing to your list.

These are just a few of the many mistakes many marketers make online. Make sure you avoid these and you will have more traffic and better success. Marketing on the web is a great way to make money. If you do it right, you can have a wonderful lifestyle and enjoy the rewards of a job well done.
