If you have been following my blog, you know one of the things I hate the most is link building. It is not the actual link building that drives me crazy. It is all the writing involved.  I don’t mind writing a few articles, but after a while, I hit a wall where I am just repeating the same things.

The biggest problem is not finding a well defined strategy to building traffic. Sure, if I had a lot of money to spend, I could have bought a book to teach it to me. However, if you are like me when I started, you don’t have a lot to spend.

When I first started my marketing business, I was bombarded with all these different ways to get traffic to my site. It was confusing to say the least. I was at my wits end and almost gave up. Finally, I started writing out all the different things I had read. I decided to plan out my own strategy to get traffic. It is not fancy, or complicated. I wrote the most simple way to go about it that I could figure out. What I came up with was the TRAFFIC FORMULA. I tested this with my own sites, and shared it with a few people on my mailing list, as well as with a few friends who were struggling with the same problem.

Writing and submitting articles to article directories such as Articles Productions and Ezine articles was the hardest part to begin with. Lucky for me, I found some great sites to help along the way.

Writing effective articles is the key. You want to make sure your articles are well written, compelling, and are keyword rich.  If you want to drive hungry visitors to your site, then you need to convince them that it is worth their time.  I recommend a great book I just found called   Article Marketing: Beyond the Basics.

Writing articles is not just for back links to your site. If you do it right, you can generate a lot of massive traffic and get more sales through them. Take the time to write them, edit them and make them compelling to your readers.

Using Social Media

You can take your articles and submit them to social sites. Make sure you spend some time on the social sites. The biggest part of social media is the direct traffic you gain from being a part of the larger community. Fill out your profiles, add a picture, and give a lot of value to the people who come. Be willing to give away most of what you know.

Forums for Business

Using forums is still a great way to get highly targeted traffic. You need to make yourself known within the community. Help others, and be willing to give more than you ask for.

Be honest. Do not claim to have experience that is not real. Be yourself.

Give more than you ask for. Don’t just spam promotions. This will get you banned. Instead, take time to help. Be willing to give away everything you know.  This will build your reputation, and get people to trust your insight.

Be careful of your questions. You see this all the time at the  Warrior Forum. People have an ad in their signature file telling you that they can teach you how to make money fast. Yet they are asking you how to do it.
