Building Relationships with Customers

Are you struggling to get customers to buy your products?

By building relationships with customers, you will increase repeat business and inspire more sales.

These techniques are specifically for internet businesses. However, they can be applied to any business that needs help building relationships with customers.

The biggest mistake many internet marketers make is they fail to Build relationships with their customers. You must build relationships that inspire your visitors to return, and to become customers. How do you do that in today’s market?

Some common questions

How do I go about building relationships with customers online?

I never even meet my customers. How will they trust me?

The answer to this can be simple. The best way to get people to trust you is to provide quality. This sounds simple. However, I see sites everyday that people believe are quality sites, just because they have a high quantity of information. More does not mean better. If you provide more bad content, you will drive people away faster. This will make it harder to get trust when you try to change it.

Let us go over some of the keys that make a quality site. This will be the same if you are writing it yourself or paying someone else to write it for you.

Accuracy

Make sure the content you post is accurate. I sometimes get a good laugh at affiliate sites. They are full of content that is wrong.

I Saw one the other day about a gaming niche. it was describing the monsters found in one area of the game, and how to fight them. The entire article was a disaster. The monsters described were from a different area of the game. Also the way to kill them would not work due to the abilities of the monster. I knew this from having played the game. Be careful of niches that you do not know very well.

Make sure you know the information in your articles is accurate. Most of your customers will know about the issues they are facing. If the information in your site is incorrect, they will not trust your opinion of whether a product is valuable or not. Accurate information is one of the easiest ways to build relationships with customers online.

Honesty

Be honest with your customers. Despite what many gurus tell you, you do not have to be an expert; you have to build Authority.

Being honest persuades more people to buy than pretending to be something you are not.

Try targeting your articles to people that are less experienced than you, but that want what you have to share.

I can use my experience to help them learn what I have learned. Sharing mutual experiences can build relationships with customers faster than trying to be an expert. People love stories. Share yours, or one you are familiar with. If the story involves someone else, leave the names out, or make sure you have permission first.

Spelling and Grammar

Fixing spelling errors is a huge key to getting more sales. Most people will not trust you, and will go somewhere else.

Grammar can sometimes be sacrificed to make something more conversational. However, it is going to depend upon what you are doing, and how your niche will accept it. If you are targeting high school teachers, for instance, you better make sure your grammar is perfect. However, I have found that writing conversationally converts better, and actually gets read more often, than technically perfect writing. If it seems boring to you, rewrite it so it is not so boring. More than a few boring sentences and your readers are gone.

Promote Relevant Products

I see too many sites Wasting time on the products. They get a lot of traffic, and no one is going to the merchant. Many times I see that this is because the product is not relevant to the people they targeted. If you are serious about building relationships with customers, you have to give them what they WANT.

Here is an example. I will leave out names to protect the guilty party.

My friend was building a site in the weight loss niche. He had a very well written, informative, and technically perfect article for how to lose excess tummy fat after a pregnancy. He had this big add on his page as well as several links to the merchant in his page, all to a page about getting six pack abs. He had pictures on his page of well-muscled men with a six-pack stomach.

This was definitely not targeting the right customer. When he changed to a product more targeted to women, and showed before and after photos of a mother who had used the product, his conversion rate EXPLODED over night. Within days, he was making regular sales on that page.

How can You start Building relationships with customers?

Start looking at everything you have online and change it to be more helpful.
