Blog Giveaway Downloads

by James Pruitt on 08/24/2010

Adding an email list to your blog is a great way to get people coming back. However, you need to offer some incentive for people to sign up for your email list. I have been getting a lot of questions on how to add a the download for  a giveaway to your blog, so I recorded a video showing you 2 ways to set up the download.  check it out here:

Now, this is just one of the many things that I have learned how to do in 2 years of running wordpress blogs. I have been answering a lot of questions, and I have decided to put on a webinar showing some of the basics for running a wordpress blog. However, as I am planning the webinar out, I need some help from you.

Leave me a comment below letting me know what is your  biggest struggle with wordpress . Although I can’t answer everything, I will try to include everything that I can into the webinar.  Also, stay tuned to the blog so that you can get the invitation to the webinar event.

Hey man. What I’m looking for is a tool where you can log into one wordpress account and mange/post/update/upgrade any of your wordpress blogs. I’ve got 6 with 14 more coming. I’ve played around with a couple tools but they don’t let you do everything like you could if you were logged into just your account. If you know of something, let me know! :)

hmmm… Okay. I will let you know about it Justin. Are you using wp v.3.0 or later? If so, I know you can set it up to run multiple blogs from one dashboard, but it is a little difficult to set up. (I am a non techie, so anything with coding changes I call difficult LOL)

Hi James

For me a great WordPRess webinar would be showing how to customize one of the many free templates that Wordpress have for free.

For example:

* The Webinar would start by showing a quick overview of the Key Admin features that you would be showing on this webinar. where they are and options that they provide ie: post, appearance, themes, etc.

* You would select a theme with lets say right hand side menu (Column) and you would show how to customize the Theme. i.e: in case you want to change to left side menu how to do it.

* Showing how to change background colors on the Theme.

* How to create a Post and customize it, links, comments, picture etc

* Headers, how to create one with Header creator or another tool and how to post it.

* setting up basic WP SEO in the pages

* Adding an OPTIN in your Main page, Article page.

* How to I copy a webpage that I have created and Add as a new page and after just change the text contents ?

* Adding Optin in your Right/ Left hand side menu.

* Download Link in case of a PDF just like this video that you created (Blog Giveaways Downloads).

Hope this will give you a good idea. :-)

Take care and keep up the great work.

LOL Thanks NEO. this gives me some great ideas. Several of those Ideas are already in my presentation that I am putting together, based on your PMs on Affilorama, and a few others I have gotten.

The problem with some of your questions about theme customization though is that you need to be a coder to do it. LIke I said, I use wordpress because I am not a coder. Also, there are so many themes, and customizing each one is different. there is no way I could show you how to customize all of them in a few webinars, even if I knew how to do it (which I don’t).

The reason I use premium themes rather than free ones is they have options to customize them. free themes are great for a personal blog, or a quick site, but if you really want a real business blog, you should invest in a good theme. there are so many benefits to them that it is a worthwhile investment. of course, that’s just my opinion, but most blogs that I follow agree with me on it.

I can show how I choose a theme, and will show a few of the free and paid themes that I use across my blogs. Also, I have found that most of the themes have a support area where you can learn how to customize their specific features. I will cover how to find that for the specific themes that I use.

“How to I copy a webpage that I have created and Add as a new page and after just change the text contents ?”

are you talking about making duplicate posts? not sure I understand what you mean by that one. give me a little more detail please.

Hi James

Another Idea that I had after posting my WP suggestions.

My first idea would be an A to Z using WP to create a Site. An overview.

After that you could create other Webinars that would go more in Depth on the key areas of WP and creating a site

for example:

How to create a compeling header (you would show the different ways that WP offer and you would build one)

Anothe Webinar would be in creating great Posts.

Another would be in creating amazing Squeeze pages.

Another would be making your WP site SEO friendly

Etc

Take care

Hi James

That would be great to know where you recommend getting good theme templates that you can easily customize it. I also prefer (less coding) is better. :-)

Regarding the copying a page that you had created what I meant was to copy and have as a new page (same layout as the previous) and then you just need to change the text on it and add the new text to it. Just to keep the pages with consistent look and feel.

Take care

Neo
